For this case study with The Body Shop India, we conducted a consumer research survey of 20 respondents across diverse demographics—varying by age, gender, and location (Tier 1, Tier 2, and rural areas). The survey assessed awareness, perceptions, and preferences regarding 100% natural cosmetics and toiletries. Respondents shared their understanding of "natural," preferred purchase channels, product categories, price sensitivity, and decision-making factors. This research revealed not just product demand but also consumer expectations around sustainability, ingredient quality, and ethical practices.

Our findings showed strong interest from younger consumers (Millennials and Gen Z) in eco-conscious and inclusive brands, with emerging opportunities in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities as awareness grows. Key challenges include price sensitivity, skepticism about product effectiveness, and limited availability. Consumers prioritized affordability, transparency, and product variety, along with innovative packaging and clearer communication of benefits. These insights now guide our recommendations for rebranding, marketing, and distribution strategies, positioning The Body Shop to meet evolving consumer expectations while sustainably expanding its market presence.
